Nils Aksnes is a freelance product design engineer based in Glasgow, Scotland. He engages in product development for clients in UK and abroad in addition to working on his own solo and collaborative design projects. He has recently taken a design engineer in residence position at Glasgow School of Art. Nils is aslo a co-founder of AnalogueSocial, an analogue network of designers practising in Scotland, aiming to help develop the Scottish design community.
Nils is a graduate of the MEng Product Design Engineering course at Glasgow School of Art and University of Glasgow. He received the Kennett Prize for design innovation for his masters project in 2010.

2011 - Present: Design Engineer in residence, Glasgow School of Art
2010 - Present: Freelance, working on product development and production as well as web and graphic design projects for clients in the UK and Abroad
2005 - 2010: Product Design Engineering MEng, Glasgow School of Art / University of Glasgow
2009: Statoil, Norway. Part of a team designing and building the 'Virtual Visual Library', an interactive library of research within the company with an innovative visual search method
2008: University of Glasgow, Development of a mentoring scheme for first year engineering students. A 14 week design challenge was developed to involve and engage the students and their mentors in a collaborative, creative process
